Must we follow? -Norms of the society

Kissing in public and kissing of the same gender? Is it acceptable? Is that wrong?
Some countries permit it some not. What do you think?

There is one strange system at work in our society. People create norms. People around us tell you what is right what is wrong. People formulate systems for you to follow. Society tells you what is right and what is wrong. Culture also creates guidelines to live your life. Many people are comfortable in the so call norms without asking any question. It is just like the law of a country. Just follow do not ask any question. These people are the blind followers.

Have you ever wondered why you should wear cloth when you go out? Why can’t you be naked and walk around? It is your body by the way. There are many more common laws that the society sets which the society perceives it is not good and not accepted. It is just in some countries public kissing is prohibited. Having pre-marital sex is prohibited and so on. Will these events disturb you if you have an open mind? Are they actually distracting? What is distracting and not it is all up in the head. After you have seen many naked people around and accept that the fact that it is their freedom you would think otherwise and accept it as a norm. In the prehistoric age we humans are running around nakedly and we do not feel shy or anything wrong about it. “It is all up in the head. It is all up in the head”. Why are we so selfish to restrict the rights of other human beings?

Some say it creates the desire. Who control the desire? Some people may have the desire even someone is cloth entirely like a ninja? -Its all in the mind

I do agree some norms are there for to protect the human rights or to fulfill our sense of security. People who hurt people physically will have to face punishment because they are against the will of another person. On the other hand, there are many norms that are just there because they are perceive “morally correct or incorrect” by a society. Let your mind work for a while and you will get what I mean. What is correct? What is incorrect?

Some people might argue that something that is correct is written by a religion for the well being of human being. I do not deny that religion does help us as a total human being and to be civilized. Do the teachings applicable to our today world? Aren’t those people teaching written by human being? We as a human is not a perfect creature. Those teaching or believed can be manipulated by this particular group of people for their own interest. One easy experiment is to create a rumor and for sure you will not get the exact rumor that you have told after it was past around 5 persons. What do expect than for writings or teachings that have been passed for generations?

Humans are the one that creates norms. Do you believe everything of a human next to you that have been telling tales for the past half and hour? What is right then? It is all up for you to decide. We have the brains to think and evaluate. Just be open. Have an open mind and you will see things better. Does this particular doing affect you? Does it cause harm to you? If not, it is that person own freedom. Why force people doing something? Who are you to decide his/her rights or wrongs?

Mercy for the flood victims of Johor

The flood situation in the southern states of Malaysia such as Johor and Malacca are having the first time high rising flood in decades. Condolences to all the family and people involve in the flood situation. Please do remember that your life is the most important of all not your belongings.

Some pointers on actions to do during a flood:

1. Look for rising water. Remember that the most important thing to do when the water reaches half a feet is to get you important documents and important things in your car and go to higher places. Please lock your house when you leave!
2. Evacuate the elders and children first.
3. Come back later by foot (if you know how to swim) to move your valuable things to higher places.
   
4. Evacuate your house if the water rises up to the waist level. Do not take chance. Do not go to the second floor. You will be trapping yourself.
   
5. Be careful of fast moving water when wading in the water. Move in groups to for security purposes.

Look at the better side of life. Nothing can be done or predicted from natural disaster. What are damages the flood caused has been caused. At least we are still breathing and we can still obtain the things we have with this two strong arms and a strong will.

Meaning of Enjoyment

Party? Sex? Shopping? Traveling? What so you really enjoy?

Enjoy life does not necessary mean enjoyment with lots of partying and booze. It does not necessary mean physical enjoyment. I have friends that mentioned that they will enjoy if they go overseas for a tour. Is that the only enjoyment and being happy? In the Maslow hierarchy of needs we will be satisfied only our needs are fulfilled. Every human being has needs and wants. No doubt we need to fulfill our needs to survive. The thing here is who determine our wants? It is not Maslow. It is we ourselves. We human are the ones creating wants. The higher the wants are the higher we need to climb to achieve happiness.

If you see the world in a lighter note and do not restrict your mind to materialistic enjoyment, there are lots of things around you that can make you happy. Happiness and enjoyment are closely related. If you enjoy something you will be happy. Even daily gardening or cleaning can be enjoyed fully. The key here is your own self. The mind tell you that you are enjoying you will enjoy and vice versa.

On thing I found out that enjoyment can be found even at the doorsteps- our family. Spend some time doing things together working on a project or hobby can be very rewarding to the mind. What people here lack of today is the basic enjoyment from the family institution. People are too busy with their daily lives just to find money and find that they have to spend money to relax and unwind. Just take some time off doing something with your sibling, parents or even children and you will learn to enjoy the wonders that can be created.

Enjoyments can be anything. Ones man’s meat is another man’s poison. Some may prefer to do some hobby or something light to pass time. As long as it does not harm anyone it can be considered a good hobby (will be on the next post on norms).

Be happy with what you have and you will see a whole new world. There won’t be happiness if you are comparing. Some are richer some are poorer. Some are happier some are sadder. There is no point envying and getting jealous. There won’t be an end and you are only seeing it at one angle. Put thing aside and start to enjoy the world. Even simple things are worth a laugh. Laugh out heartily and influence the people around you to do so. When people around you are happy and when you feel down you will feel happy too. Life is short. Why worry? Be happy and enjoy!

Moments in Life

From birth till today, have you done anything significant to the society? What have you achieve in life? Do you enjoy the achievements? Is that something you really like? Lots of people may tell you to follow your dream. Follow your dream. Is life so easy- just following and work towards your dream?

Some people dream of money. Some dream of fame. Some dream of something else. Is that really your dream? Will money and fame give you happiness and true friendship? Or is that the society that makes you believes in something? When you are not intact with the society will your dream be the same.

Let’s take some people who dream of money- to become rich. They work hard everyday to achieve the so called financial freedom in their early years in order to be happy at the later stage of life. They is one question they need to up themselves, is there a tomorrow? Life is such a fragile thing; there is nothing certain in this world. Being able to have a positive thinking is good but sacrificing your younger years for the older years is something to be questioned. There are people who are so insane looking for money and fame until the family institution or breakdown in friendship. What if the health is affected later in the later years? They will be spending their money and their older years trying to be healthy than enjoying. These Is that worth the price of gaining money, glory and fame?

“Money is not everything but everything is money” Is that true? Money can buy you the best medicine and the best doctor. Agreed, it may even save your life in the future with the advancement in medical technology. But, have you ever wondered the quality in your life? What is the point being living long if you are not really happy? Some people might say if you are rich you can be happiness? Is that true happiness? True love? Even if it is true you might think people around you stick close to you because of your money. There is something money just cannot buy. People can fake they like you but ask your self, “How many true friends do you have?” You will only find true love and true friend when you are at the downs of your life.

10 years of quality, real happiness is worth than 100 years of suffering with anxiety.

Life is not all about money, fame and glory. It is about your life- Your own life story. It may not be necessary a story of a wealthy man. We are the actors and actress of our own stage. It is just for a while. After the show the curtains will come down. A simple story than can touch lives and generations to come is the best. Make a good show out of it as you only have this one given chance.

The Meaning of life

Have you wondered how many “M”s are there that are closely related to your life? To start of, I am introducing one of the important M in life. “The Meaning of Life”.

Many people or so called human beings do not know the real meaning of life. A lot will just go do the routine work day after day. They prefer not to think about their life and the meaning behind it because it is a chicken and egg phenomenon.

Since the beginning of the age, lots of philosopher and great thinkers have wondered the reason of us being in this world. Religions around the world try to create the meaning of us being in this world. People have to believe in something-for security purposes to continue living. There is people who believes in single God (monotheistic) many gods (polytheistic) and in the way to live (non-theistic).

But have you ask yourself? Are these real? Does god really exists? Or is it just a make believe thing created by humans to suppress other humans? We all know that the brain of human is a wonderful thing. We cannot deny the existence of some people who has the certain supernatural powers. Some has telepathy, telekinesis, magic and stuffs. Is that a doing of humans? Albert Einstein said that the normal human being just used 5-10% of their brain. Is that a possibility these people use more than that and claim themselves as god? Are the religions we believe in the way it is few hundred/thousand years before? Have anyone changed it according to time? Even information we give to 10 people is perceive differently. What more do we expect if it is passed down thru generations and millions of people? Even books with same title but translated into different languages have slight changes in meaning.

The meaning of life, the reason of our existence is a mystery. Some people may be sure because they believe in something and that believe can change the way they perceive this world. Maybe it is the power of the human mind? (This is call the law of attraction by philosopher and thinkers) But at the end of the day is that the truth? Or will the truth be the same as one believe in?
